The Xbox One is a powerful device that can store very large game files. That’s how big these entries are; they’re the biggest on the system.
Video games are getting bigger and bigger over time. This is one result of making technology more powerful, but it’s not always a bad thing. In the end, a bigger file size means a better game, right? There is a chance that this isn’t true for everyone, but in general, bigger files mean better pictures.
People who buy computer games, on the other hand, expect to be able to play them. It’s getting worse for gamers to have to wait for a 100 GB file to download, but coders don’t seem to have this problem. Now, here are the Xbox One games with the largest file sizes.
Grand Theft Auto 5 (84 GB)
The computer game Grand Theft Auto 5 is a monster, and the download file for it is also a monster. The Xbox website says that you need 84 GB of room because of all the changes that have been made over the years. This is pretty normal these days, and many games have grown bigger since then, including Red Dead Redemption 2, which is another popular Rockstar game.
The game’s size can change between updates and add-ons. Because it came out in 2013, the game is already ten years old, so most players might not be willing to give up almost 90 GB for it.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition (93 GB)
There are a lot of fans of BioWare’s Mass Effect series. The File Size of the Legendary Edition is Very Large because it has all three base games in the series plus 40 DLC packs. It has also been updated so that it can play in 4K super HD, which makes the file size very large.
That being said, die-hard fans of this highly praised series might not mind giving up 93 GB of hard drive room, since it comes with three games instead of just one.
Forza Motorsport 7 (99 GB)
Some people were upset when they found out that Forza Motorsport 7 came with an amazing 95 GB install when it was first released. Usually, big open-world games are the only ones that can do that, not a simple race game. You can be sure that these huge size requirements include 4K image packs.
There were about 45 GB of data on the Blu-ray disc itself, but Forza Motorsport 7 also needed an extra 50 GB to be downloaded, which is why there were those image packs. People who wanted the “definitive ‘Forza’ experience” had to pay an extra 50 GB in hard drive room, but anyone could play the game without it.
Halo 5: Guardians (100 GB)
It’s clear that Halo is Microsoft’s (and the Xbox’s) best game. Sony and the PlayStation also can’t get their hands on it. Fans have a lot of ideas about what will happen next in the story of Master Chief and Cortana, even though many don’t think Halo 5 was the best game in the series.
The issue with Halo 5 being an average game is that its file size is around 100 GB. That would only be true for a game that old if it was one that people wanted to play over and over again. Fans are lucky that Microsoft and Xbox have Halo Infinite to spend their time with.
Quantum Break (102 GB)
This fast-paced, mind-bending, time-splitting game, Quantum Break, is not an open-world game like The Elder Scrolls Online or three games in one like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Because of this, it is strange that it takes up over 100 GB of room on Xbox.
When Quantum Break came out in 2016, it got good reviews. But more than 100 GB of storing space might be too much for an old game that isn’t an MMORPG. But since it’s on Xbox Game Pass, first-person shooter fans who haven’t tried it yet might want to.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (105 GB)
In Red Dead Redemption 2, the American scenery is recreated in a huge, lifelike way. It took a long time to make, the graphics are out of this world, and Rockstar delivered on their promise of an open-world experience like no other.
The fact that this beast was 88 GB didn’t come as a big surprise since it was clear it would take up a lot of valuable hard drive space. As of now, the game has grown to about 105 GB in size, but no one can stay away from Arthur Morgan, who is both naughty and cute, and the game’s huge open world.
Warhammer Vermintide 2 (112 GB)
Warhammer Vermintide 2 is a fun horde-style co-op game to play with other people. It’s always fun to throw fireballs at groups of rat-like animals that look like people. However, Vermintide 2’s current changes have made the whole file size about 112 GB.
Even though this game is fun to play, people who like to play a lot of games at once might want to stay away from it, especially since there are newer games like Diablo 4 that are available.
Gears 5 Game of the Year Edition (126 GB)
Fans got another great game in the Gears series with a lot of chainsaws and some surprisingly moving moments. You might not believe it, but there is an update that changes Marcus Fenix into Dave Bautista.
But the game stands out because it has one of the biggest file size needs. Gears 5 is one of those games that you can download, play through once, and then forget about for a while. Players can just re-download it later if they want to play it again.
Microsoft Flight Simulator (127 GB)
It goes without saying that any game with a huge world to explore will take up a lot of space on your hard drive. Because of how Microsoft Flight Simulator works, it will always take up a lot of space. Many people, though, would agree that the cost is worth it. A lot of fans were really excited when they heard that this game would also be coming out on Xbox One.
The game does, after all, show the world as it really is, and the pictures are amazing. A lot of people who get the title just like to go to and look at places they’ve never been to or seen before. It’s also a nice change of pace from FPS or RPG games. I’m afraid that 127 GB is a lot of data to give up for it.
Destiny 2 (131 GB)
Bungie wants Destiny 2 to be one of the biggest and most-played MMO/shooter games for years to come. Even though Destiny 2 has been in a lot of trouble in the past, including problems with microtransactions and graphics, Bungie keeps putting out patches and new parts for the game.
Since it first came out in 2017, the game has had a few add-ons, each of which has been more or less fun and successful. Destiny 2’s file size, on the other hand, grew to about 130 GBs thanks to patches and additions. Since there are already great sci-fi RPGs like Starfield, this might seem like too much room to give up.
Gears Of War 4 (133 GB)
You should really look at Gears of War 4 if you thought the file size for Halo 5 was too big. Gears of War is another Microsoft-made game. Gears of War 4 was the first Gears of War game for the Xbox One and the first game in the series in five years. Some people were ready to free up space on their hard drives, but not this much.
At the end of the day, people paid about 130 GB for hard drive room on their systems to hold Gears 4. For some people, this is just a little too much in a simple third-person shooter.
Elder Scrolls Online (134 GB)
One thing that makes MMORPGs take up a lot of room on your hard drive is that they have an open world. The game also gets changes all the time and brings people from all over the world together. That always needs power and resources, but players can pick how much space they give up.
The file size for Elder Scrolls Online varies from 85 GB to 140 GB, based on what updates, add-ons, or features players want. For true Geometry Dash Subzero fans, this is a must-have for their system. It’s likely that this is too much room for the normal player to give up for one game, though.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection (134 GB)
It’s not just Halo 5: Guardians that has a big Xbox One game file. The Master Chief Collection, which came out in 2014, has not one but six huge Halo games, from Halo: Reach to Halo 4.
For true Halo fans, the huge 134 GB of storage room this collection needs might not be such a big deal, since Halo is still one of the best Xbox game series. These are not just one game like some of the other 100 GB+ items on this list; they are collections as well. So 134 GB doesn’t seem too much.
ARK: Survival Evolved (155 GB)
“What if you could fight with dinosaurs and guns?” has been asked for a long time. ARK: Survival Evolved is the answer. Okay, so the question isn’t that old or well-known, but the game is fun to play and still gets changes all the time.
Because of this, it needs more and more space on the Xbox One hard drive. At the moment, it needs a huge 155 GB of room, which is something that only the biggest console fans are willing to give up.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (158 GB)
One of the best-known Call of Duty games ever, Black Ops, has a follow-up called Black Ops Cold War.It may be because it has so many game types and a Campaign with real historical people from all over the world in the 1980s that the game file size is so huge (158 GB).
The game didn’t do so well with die-hard Call of Duty fans, which means that some players might not see why they should spend so much space on their hard drives on it.
